Tidewell Foundation
Tidewell Foundation is an independent charitable foundation that exists to provide perpetual philanthropic support to Tidewell Hospice and other Empath Health affiliates. Charitable contributions to Tidewell Foundation sustain and grow the critically important services provided through Empath’s Full Life continuum of care.
For over 40 years, Tidewell Hospice has made a profound impact on the lives of thousands of patients and families across Southwest Florida. Corporate partners like Sarasota Private Trust Company help support Tidewell’s mission of providing care for all.
Tidewell’s Board member, Dean Hautamaki, M.D., FCCP, FACP has played an active role in the Sarasota Medical Community since 1997. He serves as Chairman of Medicine and Co-Director of Critical Care at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and continues to actively teach as an assistant clinical professor at Florida State College of Medicine. Along with these roles, Dr. Hautamaki serves as a member of the Board of Advisors for Sarasota Private Trust Company.
The Foundation elevates this commitment, with a focus on brightening the lives of patients and families, by supporting home health services, unique therapeutic services such as massage and music therapy programs, and free community grief counseling, including the widely recognized Blue Butterfly grief program for children.
In 2023, Tidewell was instrumental in raising $800,000 for Charity Care, over $1.2 million for Community Greif Centers, $146,135 for Cardiac Care Programs in the Sarasota area, just to name a few.
The Foundation offers giving opportunities for annual, memorial, and planned gifts to support their mission. It also engages the community through events such as the annual Signature Luncheon held each Spring, and the Remembrance Walk in the Fall. Click Here to learn more about Tidewell Foundation.
American Skin Association
American Skin Association (ASA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission for 36 years has been to advance dermatological research, champion skin health, and drive public awareness about skin cancer and other skin-related diseases. ASA, who received GuideStar’s 2023 Platinum Seal of Transparency and is a registered charity in the State of Florida, works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those suffering from dermatological diseases.
ASA’s Chairman Howard P. Milstein, and the Milstein family, have been active in the Florida business and philanthropic communities for many years. Howard, who founded the Sarasota Private Trust Company in 2019, has a vast legacy of philanthropic generosity towards advancing medical research and health care around the world. Howard recently acquired Golf Magazine, and its affiliates, growing his reach in the golfing world, a community that is close to the hearts of many who reside in Florida.
In 2021, ASA announced the opening of a Consumer Health Center in Sarasota to serve the local community. The center will provide vital skincare information to Floridians, who enjoy over 300 days of sunshine per year and understand all too well the devastating damage the sun can do. ASA also aims to aid in the education of youth on the importance of skin health and sun safety from an early age to prevent future harm.
Overseeing ASA’s Florida efforts is an incredibly decorated team made up of John Hart, President, and CEO of SPTC, Eric Kaplan, Esq., ASA board member and SPTC Director and R. Dean Hautamaki, MD, FCCP, FACP, the organization’s newly named Senior Medical Advisor – Florida. Notably, Dr. Hautamaki is Chief of Internal Medicine for Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Assistant Clinical Professor at Florida State College of Medicine, and Chair of the University of Florida College of Medicine Leadership Council.
